I have four female clients that I train in a small group – last week, three of them, independent from each other, asked me: “Can we go on a diet in January?”. I laughed myself silly! I have a good general plan for them, as we did this back in October as well – just clean whole food eating, etc,. journaling and stepping up the exercise intensity. So I’ll look forward to your posts on your 30 day challenge to feed into their goals. Thank you for putting it out there!

Sam – sadly that is the mentality of people out there, to just go on a temporary “diet” to lose weight….which we all know does not work long term. The challenge, while not primarily just a “weight loss” challenge, will hopefully motivate people into making changes for better “sustainable” habits. The goal being at the end of 30 days someone is able to keep going and getting better health (and the weight loss always seems to follow as well when you focus on health first). It will be fun!

You’ve definitely got me interested….can’t wait to see what you guys have for us! BTW – this year was the first year that I’ve had resolutions, but none revolved around weight – definitely progress, I think…

I am excited to see what this includes. I am starting my fast today…and Monday I will see what support, sugestions and ideas you have. I am looking to lose about 20 pounds and keep it off by September. I am will post my status as time moves forward. Excited to see where my weight will be by the end of this month. I wont reveal my exact weight as that is not the importance. The importance is the end result. My goal is to be focused on an overall healthier lifestyle. I already workout at the gym using weights and doing cardio. I just recently stepped up my resistance in my cardio and I need to get back to using my weights on a regular routine. I plan on being well toned and weigh less by May.

Thanks guys. Good to see this challenge. I’ve been a reader here for a long time – on Modern Forager and IF Life. I’ve never commented once. One of my New Year tasks is to start engaging in the blogs I read, adding my insights, taking part in discussions. I hope you hear more from me this year. You guys have been a great source of knowledge for me and the clients and friends who I refer here all the time. Happy New Year!

This looks like something I would be interested in. I have always been
watching my weight and in 1997 I got up to 206 lbs. I started Weight Watchers
and learnt a lot about how to cook and eat and the need for exercise and got
down to 136 pounds. I then had brain surgery for epileptic seizurez in 2006
and went up to 150 pounds from sitting around and eating. So now I would
like to lose 20 pounds I don’t want. I use the gym about 3 days a week and
do all the right things, but my metabolism is stuck on STOP. I just got done
reading artifical sweeteners can make you gain rather then help you lose,
so I have opted out of using any artifical foods to lose weight. Hopefully doing
this will help me get on the right losing track again.
