Ive read a few articles that say SIGG bottle plastic liners are still made with BPA, although SIGG claims theirs do not leach due to a special formula. I have no conclusive proof, but isnt this the claim made by every other BPA plastic manufacturer? just a thought. investigate for yourself.

Hey guys, great list. The only thing I'd take out is the pullup straps and replace it with gymnastics rings. You can do the same basics with both but a ton of other very advanced strength movements with the rings. This would be a key addition to a list that doesn't include strength training equipment. Thanks for the post and the site!

Gyms were created in the last 100 years.....people were fit way before that with active natural lifestyles (and yes, they did lift and carry heavy objects). Weights/Gyms are a (good) supplement to use instead of going back to a lifestyle of moving/lifting/carrying natural heavy objects....unless you are a lumberjack or live on a farm. But as far as a "lifestyle" approach goes...one can still be plenty fit running, jumping, climbing, using body-weight exercises and just moving.....other people/cultures with little/no access to modern gyms have proven that to be true.

Then state is as such, instead of lumping weightlifting in with some vague "working out" category, as if you'd do it for wasting time in a gym but not for "fitness". It's like saying weights will make you bulky and slow.

Stuart, it's not that weights "aren't appropriate". It's that they aren't necessary to be healthy and fit. Mike never said weights weren't important...but they aren't very portable. Further, gymnastics, sprinting, and any number of other activities can improve bone density, strength, and force generation.

Cheers

I fail to see how weights are not appropriate for a "fitness based lifestyle". Surely Crossfit and Ross Enamait, to name but two, should make it obvious that the opposite is true - training with heavy weights is tremendously important for increasing your bone density, strength of your connective tissues and of course your ability to generate force.

Things I do not need to exercise:
Water for a run under an hour.
Sometimes ride with no helmet and am not dead yet.
Like listening to birds not annoying music.
Let the doctor check my heart rate.
Over priced plastic wear people call workout clothes.

Mike OD- Hellz yeah! I totally forgot about that part... you can TRAVEL with them. It's like a gym in your back pack! When I'm out meeting clients or attending seminars or competitions, there's nothing better than having my bands when I wake up in my hotel room in the morning.

THEN I go out in the halls and skip with it, while people stare as they walk upstairs from breakfast.

If you guys care, visit my blog at: fitjerk.com and look for the post "Replace An Entire Gym For Under $150"

Wrote it up a while back and it's kinda like this pot. It has the most essential equipment you need to replicate EVERY exercise that you find in the gym... RIGHT at home.

No more excuses people. GET MOVING.
